Full Description
Anvil stone and hammer-stone. The anvil stone is a water worn block of quartzite measuring 25.4 cm by 20.3 cm by 15.2 cm, marked all over its flat surface with pits of different shapes and sizes some being as much as 7.6 cm long, 5.1 cm and 2.5 cm. The hammer-stone is a similar block of quartzite. They were both donated to NMAS by John Sturrock, Dundee in the late 19th century.
