Full Description

Four leaf-shaped bronze swords found in a peat moss near Haddo House (NJ83SE0042) in 1858, consisted of a leaf-shaped sword and three other swords (now lost). The surviving sword bears an inscription to the effect that it was presented to Alexander Thomson of Banchory by the Earl of Aberdeen in 1858. The sword is 65.35 cm in length and 4.7 cm in width with dark brown patina and some patches of bronze corrosion, otherwise the sword is in very good condition.
