Full Description

A cast copper alloy cruciform mount comprising an equal-armed cross, the arms terminating in substantial spherical knops, found during metal detecting. It retains traces of heavy tinning, intended to make it resemble silver when complete. One arm terminates in a lug or flange which is presumed to have been used to attach the cross to a larger piece of equine furniture. It measures 33 mm by 35 mm and dates to circa 1300. Claimed as Treasure Trove (TT.183/13) and allocated to ANGUSalive Museums, Meffan Museum Collection.
