Full Description
An Early Bronze Age undecorated bronze flat axe. It was found in 1915 at 'Newtyle Hill' and is in the possession of the Duke of Atholl, Blair Castle. The axe is Coles' type Ba, reclassified by Schmidt and Burgess as a flat axe of Migdale type, it is slightly corroded, of green patina, and has longitudinal scratch marks. Its dimensions are: 161 mm long, 39 mm wide at the butt, 95 mm wide at the cutting edge and it weighs 600 g.
