Full Description

A fine large blade core, of a form consistent with a Mesolithic assemblage, found during walkover survey of the area upstream from the site of a Mesolithic lithic scatter/shelter at Caochanan Ruadha (NN98NW0004). It was found on alluvial gravels in the valley bottom, and although not in situ may not have moved very far. The large size of the core is notably distinct from the scatter at Caochanan Ruadha which is dominated by very small pieces with no cores present. It may indicate that a different kind of Mesolithic activity was taking place in this area.
