Full Description

Worked flints found in the sand dunes on Menie Links. A large collection of flint artefacts and chippings was made on Menie Links and Foveran Links during August 1961. The collection included two arrow-heads, one leaf-shaped, the other lozenge-shaped, a shaft scraper, an end scraper, and a hammer stone. OS (1964) noted that there was no local knowledge of finds on Menie and Foveran Links, which consist mainly of shifting sand dunes. Dr Simpson said that similar finds have been made over a period of many years all along this coast, but he knows nothing of the finds report in 1961. No further information. The area was part of a walkover survey carried out by Headland Archaeology in 2012 but no finds were recorded at this location.
