Full Description

Polished stone axe, of 'clay slate', 120mm long by 85mm wide, donated to the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland (NMAS) in 1897. The accession number of this axe in the Royal Museum of Scotland is NMS: AF 440. Two polished stone axes have been found in the neighbourhood of Cairnhill. One is in the Royal Museum of Scotland (NMS: AF 440), the other is in Marischal Museum, Aberdeen (ABDUA: 16070). The latter measures 143mm in length.
