Full Description
A large flint core recorded by AOC Archaeology in September 2020 during the Peterhead Substation trial trenching evaluation (NK14SW0313). It was found packed into the surface of a modern field drain, with no other features associated with the lithic identified. It was reported as being broken into three fragments on excavation. The flint was honey coloured, with smooth thin cortex, consisting of a tabular piece, an irregular secondary flake and a platform core fragment. The core fragment type may suggest an Early Neolithic date for the lithic.
