Full Description

A medieval ring and dress fastener. A finger ring, 21 mm in diameter, of cast copper alloy with an integral bezel bearing an equal-armed cross with expanding terminals and a pellet in each quadrant. These rings were cheap and popular amulets against plagues and afflictions, especially in the 14th century. The dress fastener is of copper alloy and 26 mm in length, It is broken along the line of two perforations where it would have been sewn to the clothing, Claimed as Treasure Trove and allocated to Aberdeenshire Heritage.
