Full Description
Five struck flint lithics were noted in a 30 m stretch of beach in front of recorded shell middens during site visit in 2022 as part of the SCAPE Coastal Zone Assessment Survey. The lithics are larger in size than the main lithic scatters recorded on Forvie which are generally of a small, microlith technology. They all retain part of the cortex of the pebble or cobble from which they were struck. They comprise a dark grey flint core, a golden brown broken flint core, grey patinated (or burnt) flint flake, a cortex flake, and a pale broken chip or chunk from a pebble.
