Full Description

Coin hoard in a red pottery vessel, found in 1858 by labourers whilst digging for a new mill dam at Den of Maidencraig in Skene Road near Aberdeen. The Aberdeen Herald records that the labourers broke the vessel and divided the contents. After the authorities found out they successfully recovered 68 Scottish and English pieces of the late 16th and early 17th century. The current location of the coins is unknown.
