Full Description
Five bronze relics found in a large cairn on the Hill of Fortrie some time before 1855. Four of these probably date from the late 8th century BC. 1) a semi-tubular ring, DQ 101, 38 mm diameter. 2) a socket gouge, DQ 100, 38 mm, slightly semi-circular in section and with prominent seams, Type 1. 3) a metal button, DQ 99, 27 mm diameter with a small knob and three concentric mouldings on the obverse, the reverse is plain, except for a boss and two loops. 4) a penannular object, DQ 102, 50 mm long, made from a flattened rod with a squared off terminal, which has a grooved decoration of lines and criss-crosses.
