Full Description

A hoard of seven bronze axes found in a heap when one of seven cairns, 'curious eminences of a conical shape with marks of ditches round base', was opened in the 19th century on shoulder of the hill of Fortrie of Balnoon. This probably refers to the hill to the east of Mill of Forgue. While some were 'much oxidised' others were in a good state of preservation. Only one known to survive.
