Full Description

A barrel jar, discovered while trenching with a JCB. It measures 134mm tall, with 70mm basal diameter, 100mm rim diameter, and is 9mm thick at the rim. It was found in a rubbish pit. It is a tight barrel shape with pronounced a foot and a heavy red slip on interior and exterior, with decoration on the exterior. Originally thought to be Iron Age, however it was identified by the British Museum as being of African origin.
