Full Description
Stone into which has been carved various letters (possibly some initials) and numbers (or dates), discovered in the 1980s. Its exact findspot is unclear, the location described as 'near Asloun Castle on the banks of the River Don at Bridge of Alford'. It is not believed to have been in situ, but to have been disturbed or relocated digging the construction of a small hydro-electric scheme in the 1920s. The inscriptions appear to be a palimpsest of at least two principal elements aligned at right angles to one another and with some probable small additions.
