Full Description

Assemblage of 16 artefacts from a field in the vicinity of Cullen Castle (NJ56NW0006) dating to circa 1100-1700 AD, recovered during metal detecting in 2024. The assemblage comprises six silver hammered coins (including a Robert II silver half-groat), two copper-alloy coins, one silver love token, one copper-alloy annular brooch or buckle, one copper-alloy buckle, one copper-alloy swivel ring, one copper-alloy coin weight, one lead weight, one lead spindle whorl, and one lead nail. This assemblage features a variety of domestic remains relating to the period in which Cullen Castle was occupied (circa 1100-1700 AD). Claimed as Treasure Trove (TT 229/24).
