Full Description

Fieldwalking by T Phillips in 2000 recovered six lithics in each of these two fields, including seven worked flints. Fieldwalking of the southwestern field was carried out by J Armstrong/R Hay (members of the Mesolithic Deeside Project) in February 2021. A total of 112 lithics, all of flint, were recovered mostly from the upper half of the field. These included mainly flakes and blades, with some retouched flakes and a core. One, thought initially to be a possible gun flint, has been identified as a possible Late Neolithic flint. Further fieldwalking in 2022 by J Armstrong and R Hay recorded 21 flints in the northeastern field including flakes, a retouched flake, a blade and a core.
