Full Description

A Romano-British copper alloy enamelled head stud brooch, discovered through metal detecting in 1998. The wings have an incised decoration of transverse lines which frame an enamelled area with a row of blue diamonds flanked with red triangles. Another similar design runs down the bow beneath the lost headstud. A raised crest runs from the headstud to the head. Length 37 mm, width 17 mm, height 18 mm. Claimed as Treasure Trove (TT57/98), allocated to Elgin Museum (ELGNM: 1999.30.2).
