Full Description
Rotary quern of mica schist recovered after forestry ploughing. It measures 405 mm by 400 mm and is 70 mm thick, is discoidal with slightly convex edges and a gently rounded base. It appears to have been intended as an upper stone as it has a conical hopper (circa 5 cm in diameter) on the upper surface but has no handle socket so is presumed to have been used as a lower stone. The dished grinding surface shows extensive wear.
