Hoard of gold ribbon torcs, the largest such hoard found in Scotland. Found while ploughing in 1857, the site was marked by a small cairn (now removed). Coles records that circa 36 were found (one of which was made of bronze, the rest gold) 40 yds (36.6 m) from base of a barrow NJ26NE0002. Another torc was picked up in 1929, while turnip thinning, at NJ 2955 6519, circa 60 m away from same barrow. This later find is held in the Marischal Museum collection and is described as being a gold torc of ribbon type, with bar terminals, and broken in two places. It has a weight of 11.4 grams and a diameter of 119 mm. The museum catalogue also notes that it was 'turned up by the plough in Urquhart, East of Elgin. The armlet was dug up in the Law Hill East of Urquhart parish where 37 or 40 turned up in 1857'.
