Full Description

A ring fragment, found through metal detecting in 1997. It is the bezel of an enamelled finger ring, dated to the Iron Age. The oval bezel has the remains of a loop broken below the shoulders. Decorated with champleve enamel with four yellow dots set in a square arrangement, surrounded by an orange/red field which contains four reserved peltae between and behind the dots. The edge is worn and lost in places with much of the enamel also lost. Made of leaded bronze, minor zinc. Length 24 mm, width 15.5 mm, height 10 mm. Claimed as Treasure Trove (TT 102/97), allocated to Elgin Museum (ELGNM: 1998.11).
