Full Description

An earthen enclosure bank runs north-west from NJ 5119 4154 until it turns through ninety degrees (approximately), just south of the present track, to continue south-west until it disappears as it re-crosses the present woodland boundary once again. This feature is not shown on an 18th century estate plan (RHP 2285) though it does show a boundary running in this direction from Westerton, which terminates before meeting the extant bank. This bank may be a survival from a pre-18th century field which extended higher up the hill than the present and 18th century agricultural field systems.
