Full Description
An extensive area of rigs running roughly north-west recorded by Forestry Commission field survey ahead of forestry operations. They run under the early modern dyke which crosses the wood in a roughly east-west direction at this point and the headland might coincide with the track at the edge of the wood. On the western edge the rigs appear to be responsible for the alignment of this dyke which turns north-west, apparently following the line of the first rig. The rigs are generally of 12m wavelength, though some are slightly narrower. North of the early modern dyke are a further 5 rigs of 12m wavelength and another 13 with wavelengths of 8m. The final one appears to be more reminiscent
of an earthen boundary dyke than an actual rig.
