Full Description

Site of castle. The OS Name Book (1863) recorded that this was said locally to be the site of the Castle of Mondynes, situated on a natural ridge although no record of a castle here was known. It also noted that there had evidently been a building although the foundations had been destroyed. RCAHMS site visit 1982 noted that all that remains is a low rectangular mound is defended on the east by a low ditch 7m wide by 0.5m deep. Traces of the possible enclosures of a garden can still be seen. No further information.
