Full Description

Remains of a group of seven house platforms, situated on the SW-facing slopes of Knachly between 350m and 400m OD. They were recorded by Headland Archaeology during a survey of the Balnaboth Estate in 1998. Four of the platforms lie next to each other in a line gradually rising up the slope with a fifth lying some 70m to the southeast. The last two platforms lie some 80m uphill to the northeast. The individual platforms are quite similar. They range in size from 9.5m x 9m to 13.5m x 12m and most are levelled into the hillside on the east and terraced out on the west with low banks or walls around the edge. There are low mounds in the centre of two of the platforms.
