Full Description

Remains of burial mound/cairn. It is an artificially-constructed, grass-covered mound 5.0 m high, circa 32 m overall diameter, with a flat top 10 m diameter. It is situated within the garden of Glenskinno, and has an extensive and commanding view of the Montrose Basin to the south. There is no surrounding ditch. Formerly considered as both a motte or an ornamental garden mound erected for a summerhouses, in the late 18th-early 19th centuries. No local knowledge concerning it was encountered. In the field to the east a number of circular-shaped crop marks are visible on an air photograph taken in 1953 by the RAF, but these are probably scars made by tractors, as no surface indications are to be found in the field which was under crop at time of investigation by the OS in 1958.
