Full Description
Remains of a bank, comprising a discontinuous arc of informal linear turf and stone bank with overall length of circa 32 m, recorded during a walkover survey by Mercer and Ralston in 1989 prior to a proposed extension of Bellmuir Quarry (NJ83NE0181). It marks the southeast limit of a roughly cleared area with some stone clearance heaps. A walkover survey carried out by Rathmell Archaeology in 2016 ahead of proposed development of Bellmuir Quarry identified the site (S23) with the bank measuring circa 1 m wide and 0.3 m to 0.4 m high. The length of the bank surveyed was 17.5 m, shorter than described in 1989.
