Full Description

Remains of a dam across Allt Darrarie, with ponds and lades which formed part of a hydro-electric scheme constructed in the 1950s by John Robertsone, former keeper . The remains comprise a stone and mortar bank on top of the burn bank, a concrete embankment on the burn bank, and a tear-shaped depression to the north it west side formed by earth and stone bank with sluices. Several large baulks of timber lay within this pond. It is connected by an underground pipe to the concrete embankment. Running northwest from the dam are ditches of various width and depth with a maze of courses. There are three concrete structures - an entrance to an underground pipe, a coffin shaped water filter, and an end course with a filtering facility of glass rods.
