Full Description

Part of a hollow-way which cuts across the north facing slope of Gairlaw, recorded by CFA field survey in 2007 ahead of a proposed wind farm It corresponds to a track depicted on the OS 1st and 2nd edition maps and is still in use as a track. It is circa 2m wide and runs for circa 100m. This was also recorded during field survey carried out by Clyde Archaeology in October 2023 ahead of proposed woodland creation (NO35NW0102). It is one (the easternmost) of three tracks crossing a formerly wooded area, extending alongside the field boundary to the south and in the north running east to the mill of Auldallan. The two other tracks to the west within the former woodland appear to be modern. They are generally 2 m wide, grass-covered and cut into the slope.
