Remains of a bank, comprising a discontinuous irregular-shaped arc enclosure of low spread stony bank on flattish ground, recorded during a walkover survey by Mercer and Ralston in 1989 prior to a proposed extension of Bellmuir Quarry (NJ83NE0181).

Remains of a bank, comprising a discontinuous irregular-shaped arc enclosure of low spread stony bank on flattish ground, recorded during a walkover survey by Mercer and Ralston in 1989 prior to a proposed extension of Bellmuir Quarry (NJ83NE0181). The bank is 0.3 m high maximum, and encloses an area circa 18 m north-south by a maximum of circa 22 m west-east. The feature is disrupted on its east side by the present stone dyke, and its continuation is lost under the upcast from the sand-and-gravel quarry to the east. There is one stone clearance heap in the area defined by the bank. The original function of this enclosure is likely to be related to pre-recent farming practice. A desk based assessment carried out by Rathmell Archaeology in 2016 ahead of proposed development of Bellmuir Quarry and subsequent field observation noted the site (S15) as present but did not record any further details, with the site located outwith the proposed development area.
