Full Description
Remains of a section of the Aberdeenshire Canal which ran from Inverurie to Aberdeen. This section runs from NJ807151 to NJ812151, south of Dalwearie. It is a continuation of NJ81NW0060 and NJ72SE0131. A watching brief carried out by Cameron Archaeology in September 2024 during excavations for a cable trench (NJ81NW0368) included a section across the canal on the east side of the road. The trench exposed part of the southeast embankment and a piece of unmarked brick was recovered from the topsoil over the embankment, no trace of the canal channel bed or the northwest embankment was evident within the trench.
