Full Description

Remains of rig and furrow. The northern area of rig and furrow had been partially destroyed by quarrying and the southern area had completely disappeared as an earthwork feature. Vertical aerial photography and All Scotland Survey record two discrete areas of rig and furrow, both aligned from northeast to southwest, separated by a quarry trench. The northern group of rig is visible on both the 1948 and 1988 photographs whilst the southern group only appear on the earlier set. Field survey, in response to a pre-afforestation scheme, by Headland Archaeology in 1998 could only identify the northern group which comprises seven rigs ranging from 2m to 4m in breadth and standing up to 0.4m in height.
