Full Description

Alleged earthworks, depicted as remains of Wallace's Camp on the OS 1st edition map, OS site visit 1967 concluded that this is not an antiquity, rather the feature is formed by the removal of part of a natural old river terrace, possibly for either sand or gravel. The site is completely unsuited for a camp. Local legend has it that a battle was fought across the river here between Wallace and an unknown opponent on the opposite bank.
