Full Description
Area of rig and furrow, an extension of NJ70SE0010. The area was surveyed an by CFA during Aberdeen to Lochside Gas Pipeline Project in 2003-2004. It contained elements of a pre-improvement landscape, including a possible shieling hut, hollow-way, boundary walls and various spreads of cleared stone. It is possible that some of these stone spreads were remains of structures and clearance cairns. Evaluation trenching along of the pipeline wayleave was carried out by CFA in March 2004 to investigate the hollow-way and a stone spread. The trackway had banks of earth and stone to either side but no surface remained. The stone spread did not appear oto have any structural elements and was probably clearance. The four other trenches, sites to avoid known features, contained no archaeological features.
