Full Description
Area of rig and furrow on the slopes of Gallowhill visible on RAF photographs taken in 1953 show rig and furrow in several areas of the woodland. In the northern part of the wood (NJ 6955 1656) RCAHMS field visit recorded an area of rig and furrow at least 5.5ha in extent straddling the summit of Gallow Hill. The rigs measure up to 6m in breadth and are aligned northwest to southeast.
