Full Description

Homestead moat bounded on the north by dried-up ponds and on the south by reclaimed marsh lands. The only dry approach is from the northeast. The raised central area is oval. The moat is circa 8m wide contained by bank 14m wide and 1.7m high, the narrow gap in the north a possible sluice site. A wide gap in the bank in the northeast may be entrance but could be later mutilation. Probably the Hall of Logy Rothwayne, the headquarters of Andrew de Moray during the battle of Culblean in 1335. The moat is now rush-filled, the southern edge of the mound eroded of vegetation. A number of associated linear earthworks run off to the north.
