Full Description

Embanked enclosure defined by a low bank and shallow ditch. It was first recorded by a Forestry Commission harvester in 1991 as an embanked enclosure circa 40 m in diameter, defined by a low bank and a shallow circa 1 m wide ditch. It was surveyed in 2013 by Simon Forder, who recorded it as a possible henge site that was circa 35 m in diameter, with a shallow ditch over 2 m wide and a bank circa 0.75 m high and circa 2 m wide. A desk-based assessment and survey was carried out in August 2017 by NOSAS and Simon Forder. The desk-based assessment of historic maps found no record of a castle or other structure in the area, and there is no local knowledge of a structure on this site. The survey was unable to record the site in any detail due to thick vegetation, however it was suggested that it was unlikely to be a Bronze-Age henge due to its size, shape and placement.
