Full Description

Site of a Q-type lighting decoy for airfields, identified at this site from RAF air photos, near the east end of Innes Links about 350 m northeast of Nether Unthank farmstead. An imitation runway was cut across the dune system by stripping the vegetation to reveal the sand. A control bunker for this decoy airfield was also noted on the air photos. The site was visited in February 2009 by AOC, but no remains relating to this site were identified. The site is now densely forested. Forestry Commission SMR notes earthwork banks, the larger one on the east side, and four intermediate banks running across the runway.
