Full Description
Sunken trackway running north-south recorded to the east of the Laeanoch Burn. It connects Glenchapel with Upper Glenchapel. The track splits before cutting through a field bank at NJ15SE0015 and runs southeast before turning due east and following the north bank of the Burn of Bodmattock. It disappears under the modern forestry track. The northern part of the track was within the area of walkover survey by Addyman Archaeology in September - October 2022 (NJ25SW0058) ahead of proposed woodland creation: this noted that the track was hard to make out on the ground, and was defined largely by the heather cover. Southern sections of the trackway were within walkover survey carried in June - July 2024 ahead of proposed woodland creation (NJ15SE0079) which noted that the north end of the feature was wider and more evident than the south, measuring up to 4 m wide and 1 m deep. At the south end it was circa 2 m wide and 0.7 m. It is truncated at the south by a modern forestry track.
