Field system which runs from NO 837 941 to NO 837 942.

Field system which runs from NO 837 941 to NO 837 942. Possibly only the upper end of the system exists. A field bank runs a short distance up the slope from the fields to the east and then turns away to the south. At least three small cairns are within the area enclosed by the field bank which is 2 m wide by 0.3 m high. About 50 m to the north is a linear clearance heap. A walkover survey was carried out by Alder Archaeology in May 2021 (NO89SW0135), in advance of proposed afforestation, including the area of the former field system. The remains of which were recorded as comprising of two grassed-over banks. Bank 01, an entirely grassed-over earth bank, running roughly east northeast-west southwest from NO 83678 94149 to NO 83639 94139, and surviving up to 2 m wide, just under 1 m tall in places but generally less, around 0.30 m. Bank 02, located 6 m to the south, from NO 83682 94140 to NO 83641 94127, runs in parallel with Bank 01, but is more intermittent and petered out further to the east, otherwise of similar dimensions to Bank 01. No trace of the linear clearance heap or the three small cairns were recorded, with the former possibly having been destroyed by quarrying, and it is possible that the three cairns survive as Bank 02.
