Full Description
Remains of a field-system and cairns. A complex of ring cairns, small round cairns, old field boundaries and field clearance extends over a wide area. Ring cairns NO89SW0006 and NO89SW0007 may have been misidentified as hut-circles, as may several of the small cairns which have been excavated and the centres removed. In addition to the clearance heaps, further evidence of earlier cultivation is provided by lynchets and field banks which delimit small cleared plots. Some of the clearance cairns may have been subsequently used for burials, but no evidence of this was seen in those with centres removed.
