Full Description

Anti-tank blocks of World War II date, set on either side of the bridge over the Cowie water, to stop vehicles passing the bridge. Stones are set in the top for camouflage. They formed part of the Cowie Stop Line. Eleven cubes, in a double line parallel to the road and set at 45 degrees to the road, are visible on vertical aerial photographs taken in 1946 by the RAF. Eleven cubes were recorded in the 2004-5 survey, seven in their original position, the remainder piled against them. Three other cubes are lined on the eastern side of the bridge blocking the apparent southern exit of a ford.
