Full Description

Well, built in the early 19th century. The Duthie family, who made their money from ship building and the manufacture of rope, helped fund the building of the well. A square ashlar structure encloses the well, and has a base course, cyma recta cornice, blocking course and a shallow modern concrete slab top. The west face has a metal plaque and spout and a cornice inscribed 'Duthie's Well'. The east face has a rectangular opening abutting the cornice. Site visit in 2022 as part of the SCAPE Coastal Zone Assessment Survey nthis remains in good condition.
