Full Description
House, first depicted on the 2nd edition OS map, which was used during the First World War as a hospital and during the Second World War as a billet for soldiers. It was subsequently converted into a hotel. Built in the mid-late 19th Century as a double fronted house, with later additions to the rear. A roof scar on the exterior of the former north wall of the house indicates that the south area of the building is earlier than the north end. The hotel was closed in 2008, and suffered severe damage by fire in 2009. A photographic survey was carried out by Cameron Archaeology in May 2011, prior to its conversion into a flatted development.
