Full Description
Railway viaduct, opened circa 1850 by the Aberdeen Railway, and rebuilt in 1883-4. It is a curved 14-span viaduct with wrought-iron plate girders (formerly wooden arches) on masonry piers. The reducing 4-stage stepped piers are of squared and snecked rubble at stages 1-3, concrete at stage 4. Surmounted by wrought-iron plate girder parapet. The structure was strengthened in 1977. The original structure was built with timber arches. Photographic survey of the viaduct was carried out in 2014 ahead of strengthening works.
