Full Description

Remains of stone building, recorded during site visit in 2023 as part of the SCAPE Coastal Zone Assessment Survey. It measures 8 m by 10 m, constructed of ashlar quoins and coursed squared rubble, the south wall better preserved. A battery is depicted here on the 1st edition Ordnance Survey. On the 2nd edition OS a roofed building is depicted in this area, with the remains of the battery to adjacent to it to the southeast. No sign of the battery survives. The surviving section of wall is shown on the OS 2nd edition map, just to the north of a small building. The wall does not appear on the 1st edition, although the 25 in 1st edition published 1866 depicts a small structure annotated 'Battery'.
