Full Description

Ship's winch now set in the grass just above the beach. Recorded in 2023 as part of the SCAPE Coastal Zone Assessment Survey. It is a large cast iron winch, approximately 0.8 m wide and 1 m in height, situated within one metre of the coast edge. The coast here is defended by a concrete wall and anti tank blocks. Circa 1 m to the north is the remains of the base of a second electric winch. The site is possibly the remains of a boat shed, and sits on or near the site of an engine shed, depicted on OS 25 Inch mapping (NO87SW0226). There is a wooden railed slipway on the north side of the winch.
