Full Description
Former road bridge, built in 1799, now only accessible to pedestrians. It is a single segmental arch bridge, with pierced spandrels and rusticated abutments containing vaulted cellars for storing coal and lime. The single arch has a span of 103ft (31m) and is 80ft high (24m). The bridge is rubble built with dressed voussoirs. The bridge was superseded by the Jubilee Bridge in 1935 (NO87SW0037).There are references in Arbuthnott Kirk Session Minutes of 1694 to collections the church towards a new bridge over the Bervy - this refers to the earlier bridge of two arches built in 1696.
