Full Description
Village of Benholm. The church (NO86NW0006) dates from at least the 13th century. The main buildings of the present village lie on the promontory between Burn of Benholm and Castle Burn. In the 18th century the main route (the post road) from Montrose to Aberdeen passed through the settlement but this was replaced as the main route by a new turnpike in circa 1800, now the route of the A92.
