Full Description

Farmstead, still in use, depicted on historic maps. The 1st edition shows a group of at least 5 rectangular buildings arranged around a central rectangular courtyard, with a farmhouse to the north east. A mill lade leads from the south to a building on the southwest of the courtyard. The layout is essentially unchanged by the time of the 2nd edition by which time two rectangular buildings have been added to the northwest of the house. A small roofless building is shown to the south east by the river. The farmhouse (category C listed) is a late 18th century 2-storey, 3-window plain harled house with skews, glass porch, slated roof and single-storey 2-window kitchen wing. The farm has a whinmill stone, described in 1925 as 'one of the most massive crushing-stones of the wheel or grindstone type now in existence' although by that time the apparatus had been dismantled and the stone lay close to the farm steading.
